5 Things // April Edition

That time of the month has rolled round once more, where I share with you all my top 5 moments of the month. If you want to see what my top 5 of previous months have been, you can see all my "5 Things" posts here.  But for now, without further ado, here are my 5 Things from April:

1.  Really started to enjoy blogging again.

I've published 10 (11 now!) posts this April which is actually quite a lot for me! I've been feeling really inspired recently and have genuinely loved writing my thoughts down online. I feel like May won't be as blogging filled, as my final year dissertation is due in, but I'm hoping to schedule a few posts in! Although saying that, I think I'm going to do a blogger > wordpress migration soon and change the layout of my blog a bit, which excites me! I've also decided to save up for a nice camera, but in the mean time, I can still take fairly good pics on my phone!
I don't know why this month I suddenly started to blog loads more, but i'm not mad about it.

2. I got to get all dressed up and go to a fancy ball.

Earlier in the month, I attended "The Broadway Ball" which was in The Grand Hotel in Brighton, and it was so lovely! The ball was set up by the performing arts societies at my Uni, and obviously where I've been a part of the Musical Theatre Society this year, I was able to attend.

It was such a nice evening, and I haven't properly dressed up in a really long time! We got fancy food, drank free alcohol, and danced a bit too much. I wore a fancy dress and some heels, and I even made an effort with my hair for once, which is really unheard of.

3. I turned 21!

Couldn't really do a post about my top 5 moments in April without mentioning my Birthday! On April 22nd, it was my 21st Birthday- which is crazy, and can life slow down a bit please.

I have a whole post detailing what I got up to, if you're interested. But genuinely had a really lovely time, and it was nice to take a break from uni stress / life stress / and work!

4. The weather was glorious, and I spent time with great people!

We had a bit of a heatwave here in England this month, and it was the week before my Birthday which was niceeeee! I feel like I definitely made the most of the sunny weather, and most evenings were spent sat on the beach with some fruity beverage in hand, watching the sunset. I absolutely love living in Brighton when the weather is nice!

Everyone, I feel, was in a better mood, and it was just nice to sit in the sun for once and chat with friends. Also discovered Iced Coffee, and now there's no going back. When I say "discovered," what I actually mean is, watched "Love, Simon" with Dan, saw the main characters addiction to iced coffee, got intrigued myself, and decided to try it. A great discovery. Would recommend.

5. I got accepted onto my Masters!

Last month in my 5 things, I mentioned that I had decided to apply for an Msc in Human Resource Management, and I just found out yesterday that I've been offered a place! It's really exciting but also kind of scary at the same time!

At least now I know that I have something to do next year though, which is always nice!

So, that just about rounds up my 5 Things April post. I've had a lovely month, and I hope May will be just as nice, but deep down I know May probably could be the worst month to date, but I'm gunna try to stay positive!

How was your April, and what was the best thing that happened to you?

Thanks as always,

Lauren xx

5 Things // March Edition

Wooow, what a month.

March was by far the busiest month of my entire life so it was quite hard narrowing it down to 5 moments, hence why this post is slightly late! Nonetheless, here is what I've come up with.... (If you want to see previous months '5 Things' it's a whole category on my blog)

1. I had an interview at Samsung!: I didn't get the job I was applying for, so you may be confused as to why I'm including it in my highlights of the month, however, I was so nervous to go to this interview- it was actually more of an assessment centre, so I was there all day and did several tasks, but I actually quite enjoyed it. Enjoying an interview? whaaat? It made me realise I definitely do want to go into Human Resources, and I felt like I learnt a lot about myself. When they phoned me to tell me I hadn't been successful, they also gave me some feedback, which was really helpful and positive, and I can use all their advice in the future. Also there were 12 of us all going for 1 role, and considering they said over 1000 people had applied, I was proud that I made it to the top 12! I was just really proud I went, because I almost didn't as I thought I couldn't do it, but I did!

2. Seeing Tom Misch in London: This was my gift to Adam for Christmas, but I actually really enjoyed it as well! Tom Misch is incredible live and I'd really recommend you listen to his music, he's coming out with a new album in less than a week now which is very exciting. At the beginning of March we went to the Roundhouse, which is in Camden, and actually a really cool venue, to see him live. It was one of my favourite concerts I've ever been to, and I wrote a blog post about what else we got up to in London, which you can see here.

3. I produced a show... I couldn't do a round up of the month without mentioning the biggest part of my month! I have actually written a giant post all about my experience on being a producer, which you can read here but basically, this is probably my biggest achievement to date, and I'm so happy everything went well! I won't ramble, because I've gone into so much detail in the post I wrote, but essentially March was a big month for me all round!

4. I applied for a Masters in Human Resource Management: Following on from not getting the job at Samsung, I decided instead of looking for another job, I'd apply to do a masters instead. I had been toying with the idea for a few months, but after realising it's an industry I really want to get into, I thought I may as well apply. Writing a personal statement all over again was not fun, and gave me some horrible college flashbacks, but I think it turned out okay! I don't know if i've been accepted yet, but hopefully I will be!

5. Myself and Adam had a cute, "de stress" day after the show: Adam was also working on the show I produced, as Musical Director, so essentially in charge of all the music for the show, the band, and conducting, and as it was a musical, you can imagine he had a pretty big job. We both had got a bit stressed leading up to the show, so when it was over it was really nice to just spend a day not doing much at all. We went and got a coffee, went to our favourite spot we've found in Brighton, and we also went to a fancy Next, which had just opened a Paperchase inside of it (how exciting is that!) and I got way too excited over a pink rain mac I found, and all the cute stationery. It was just a nice day, and It was one of my faves this month.

Every time I write these posts I feel like the months are passing me by faster and faster! April will be pretty exciting as its my 21st Birthday! March was an amazing, stressful, crazy month for me!

Hope you guys enjoyed reading about my top five memories this month!

Loads of love,

Lauren xx

5 Things // February Edition

Hi everyone,

So keeping up with my mini "5 Things" series on my blog, I thought it was about time to reflect on the month of February! Also though, how is it March?! I have such a busy month it's stressing me out just thinking about it, but alas, I digress, as usual.

If you're new around here, I introduced this series on my blog, where every month I talk about 5 things I want to remember. It's kind of similar to a monthly favourites, but instead of talking about products, talking about life stuff instead!

You can read my 5 things post from January here, and also there is a dedicated section on my blog under "Categories" where you can find all of the posts i've done so far in this series.

February definitely had it's ups and downs. There were some crappy moments, but i've focused on the positives in this post so lets jump into it!

1. My best friend, Abby, surprised me from America. Probably my fave memory from the month of Feb, was Abby surprising me during some auditions for the show. I honestly had been having a really rubbish start to the month and seeing her made me feel so much better, and we had such a lovely time catching up! It's crazy how even though she's miles away, we still are such good friends, and when she came back it was like she hadn't even left at all!

2. Along a similar line, we went for brunch and I really enjoyed it. Putting going for brunch as one of my highlights of the month seems a bit extra, but our brunch at Redroaster Cafe in Brighton was such a nice day, and I really did enjoy it! We took so many photos in the Cafe, and we chatted for ages, and sat on the beach in the sun and it was just a moment that I thought I would want to remember, so here it is, in my top 5 of the month. Abby, feel privileged.

3. The show I'm producing is coming along, slowly but surely! If you read my blog a lot, or follow me on social media, then you will know I am the Producer for my Uni's main musical theatre production of the year, Jekyll & Hyde. In feb, rehearsals started up again after Christmas, we recruited some new members to the cast, sorted out all the headshots and I just feel like we are making good progress. This month has definitely been stressful as well, and I've had a few mini breakdowns about the show programme, but this time next month it will all be over, so I'm making the most of it!

4. We celebrated Adam finishing and submitting his Dissertation, and it was v v cute. Adams degree structure is different to mine, which means he's already handed in his dissertation, and I'm yet to really even start mine properly yet... But we went to Bill's in Lewes for a celebratory meal and it was just nice to celebrate his hard work. Also we went on a mini photoshoot for him to get a pic with his dissertation which was cute as well.  Also I got a Pink Lemonade float which made me feel like a child, but I had no regrets, it tasted a m a z i n g.

5. It snowed!!! In Brighton!!! And we went on a cute adventure and took some pretty pictures. I'm not actually the biggest fan of snow, but it does look really pretty, especially around Brighton! Adam dragged me on a 2 hour long walk, which I was pretty reluctant for, but we had the cutest time, and saw some beautiful snowy sights. We also took so many pictures, and somehow, my eyes are shut in most of them. Such a professional blogger. That aside, it was a nice day. It's actually still snowing here in Brighton and I'm kind of over it now, but still, it was a cute memory!

So that's my 5 Things for the month of February! March is a pretty busy month for me, so everyone pray that I survive it.

Let me know what your fave Feb moment is!

Lots of Love,

Lauren xx

5 Things // January Edition

I was scrolling through Bloglovin' this morning- which by the way if you're not following me on, please do so here it's a really nice way of following your favourite  bloggers and catching up on their latest posts! (cheeky plug) but I came across this post by Dena from her blog The Dena Edit describing a new mini series for bloggers. Named "5 Things" the general idea is that you round up the month with the 5 top memories, or things you've done in the month.

It's kind of like a monthly favourites post, but not with products, with real life stuff! If that makes sense...

Anyway, I really loved the concept, so I thought I would start it myself as well.

I think it will be nice to look back on in the future, so without further ado, here are my 5 things from January:

1.  I've made lots of positive changes. This month I was determined to stick to my New Years resolutions and I've actually managed so far. I have been drinking at least 2 litres of water a day (most days) and I actually have started going to the Gym twice a week. It might not seem a lot to some people, but to me I was actually terrified of the gym, as I thought everyone would just stare at me and think I'm stupid. But it's really not the case. (Except maybe that time I fell flat on my face on a treadmill...) I'm hoping this is something I can continue as I really would like to feel a bit better about my health/appearance this year. If not now, when? is a quote which really made me think about things, and I feel i've put that into practice a bit this month.

2. Acquired a house cat! If you know me at all, you will know I actually love cats. Just before Christmas we had a cute cat come running into the house, who we have named Pableet (I thought the cat was a boy, so called it Pablo, my friend discovered she was a girl, so Pablo turned into Pableet) but throughout January she started coming over at least once a day! And currently as I'm writing she is asleep next to me, so basically she's ours now! Yaaaaas. She has the loudest bell ever on her collar so we always listen out for her and invite her in when she's outside. I feel I'm sounding like a crazy cat lady now, but to be honest with you, I am a crazy cat lady, and I have no shame.... This is my current view:

So precious *heart eye emoji*
3. I Started up blogging again! Feel I couldn't skip this one! In January I decided I wanted to start blogging again, but start taking things a bit more seriously- whilst still having fun, of course. I still have a long way to go in terms of photography skills, and followers, but I have really enjoyed it this month. I definitely think giving my blog a makeover helped massively with my motivation, but I have been blogging on and off since 2013 now, so I think it's finally time to actually do it properly for once. So far, so good! I've had loads of nice feedback from people I know, and I was usually terrified to plug my posts on my social media, because I thought no-one would care what little old me had to say, but this year, I've decided to stop worrying about what others may think, and just do what I want to do! So far, it has gone well, and I'm excited to carry on blogging throughout the year!

4. Making a programme for a Musical Theatre production, is very difficult. I'm pretty sure I have mentioned on my blog before that I'm currently the Producer for my Universities Musical Theatre Society production this year.  By the way, if you're around Brighton in March, please come see! Its Jekyll & Hyde the musical, and we have some incredibly talented cast involved! Tickets can be purchased here! I didn't actually realise just how much work and effort goes into producing a show, and this month I've been spending most of my evenings trying to design the show programme, with a lot of help from Adam, to stop me from having an emotional breakdown! I'm finally getting somewhere with them though, and I am so excited for this term! I'm loving my role, and I think I will be quite sad when the shows over!

5. I found a lovely flat for next year! The picture of drinks is unrelated, I just wanted future me to remember them, and also, the restaurant we had them in is kind of near the new place. Alas, I digress. Myself, Adam and our friend Eddie finally found somewhere to live for next year! It felt like it took f o r e v e r but I'm glad we waited as now we going to be moving into a really nice flat, that even has a balcony! Anytime someone asks me about the flat, I mention it has a balcony. Admittedly the worlds smallest balcony, but a balcony nonetheless. We had a bit of a scare at the Estate Agents as when we went in to sign some papers, the guy told us someone had just beaten us to it! We were all so gutted, but about ten minutes later he phoned again letting us know he had made a mistake and that the flat was available if we wanted it! It's in a really lovely area of Brighton and I'm really happy and excited for next year!

So that's my "5 Things" post done for January. Overall, I'd say the month has been pretty good for me. There has definitely been some low points *cough* that all nighter I did *cough* but I'd say on the whole it was a pretty positive month! Let's hope it continues!

Let me know in the comments what stood out for you in January, and I hope you enjoyed reading!

See you all soon,

Lauren xxx
